Certifying the origin of wine
Improving the quality of product information
Optimising import/export traceability
A Chilean winery implemented a system to curb wine counterfeiting and its distribution in the parallel market, thus regaining the trust of its customers.
How does RFID operate in this case?
In order to guarantee the originality of the wine bottles, an RFID stamp (a custom SLIX label) containing three levels of security was used, making each bottle a unique and non-duplicable product, as well as being traceable from production to consumption.
The consumer can thus verify the authenticity of the bottle through an App on the smart-phone: by bringing the mobile phone close to the RFID label, it is possible to view the wine’s card and communicate the geographical location of the bottle to the main server.
This architecture not only serves to certify the origin of the wine, but also to fight piracy, improve the quality of product information and optimise the traceability (customs, health and tax) of exports and imports.
